GCASA Afterhours Family Violence (FVAH) Crisis Response Service

What will happen when I call for assistance?

GCASA role includes the provision to clients of:

  • Support to seek legal and medical assistance following sexual assault
  • Information and support to help in making decisions to report to Police
  • Information and support to understand and cope with natural reactions to trauma
  • Support to understand risk and plan for safety
  • Communicating questions, concerns and decisions to Police and other services

24/7 Sexual Assault Crisis Care Support

  • Available across the whole Gippsland region from the Bunyip River to the border
  • 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by calling 1800 806 292
  • Supporting those who have experienced a recent incident of sexual assault
  • Can work alongside the specialist sexual assault response team of Victoria Police (SOCIT) and medical services

Purpose of Crisis Care Response

Early Crisis Intervention Aims to Assist Individuals to:
  • Understand their natural crisis reactions following trauma
  • Promote their natural recovery following trauma
  • Reconnect with their internal strengths and sense of personal power and control in life
  • Access resources to support safety
  • Link into further crisis support as appropriate
